(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – On March 6, 2017 at approximately 3:30 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex County, Ontario received a report of a possible data breach of an area schools computer system.
The Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) advised OPP as per protocol of the potential breach to employee files by students on a school computer.
The school board reported that the involved students have been identified and they do not believe any information was released to any outside source, nor was there any malicious intent by the students involved.
The GECDSB will be handling the investigation internally.
