(CALEDON, ON) – On November 24, 2013 shortly after 7:30 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an unwanted male at an Airport Road gas station. Officers immediately recognized that the male was under the influence of alcohol. The male was arrested for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. Through their investigation, the officers learned that the male had driven his vehicle to that location and confirmed the information through the store’s CCTV system. As a result the male was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and transported to detachment for testing.
Once the investigation was concluded, Sarbjit MANGAT, 44, of Brampton was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80. He was also charged under the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on December 12, 2013.
