(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – On Thursday November 20, 2014 the South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on Highway 101 and Kamiskotia Road, conducting a R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program.
At 1:18 am a Honda Accord approached and police checked the status of the driver. Further investigation resulted in charges.
Samyra SMITH age 22, of Sainte-Therese, Quebec was charged with Impaired Driving as per section 253(1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada, and Over 80 as per section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Further the driver was served with a 90 day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on January 20, 2015.
