(HALIBURTON, ON) – On July 25, 2015 at approximately 2:45pm officers from Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE spot check at Deep Bay Road and Murdoch Road in the Township of Minden Hills, Ontario.
Officers conducted a vehicle stop and upon speaking with the male driver, the officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Haliburton Highlands OPP Detachment for further testing.
The vehicle was towed and impounded for a period of seven days and his drivers’ licence was suspended for 90 days as per statute.
Robert STEVENSON age 29 from Minden Hills Township has been charged with Driving With More Than 80mgs of Alcohol contrary to sec 253(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden, Ontario on September 2, 2015.
