Robert KERR – Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) –Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a single vehicle collision on St George Road at German School Road in the County of Brant at approximately 9:40 p.m. on 25 September, 2015.

OPP investigators attended along with County of Brant Emergency Services, County of Brant Fire Department. Police found that the 2005 Honda Civic had been travelling northbound on St George Road when it left the roadway and entered a steep ditch. The vehicle rolled over and a male passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) were deployed to the scene to assist with the investigation and the cause of the collision is still under investigation.

As a result of the collision the passenger a 28-year old County of Brant man sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the vehicle 19-year-old Robert KERR from the County of Brant was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:

Drive while ability impaired causing bodily harm

Care and Control of a motor vehicle over 80 mg

Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date to answer to his charges. If convicted, the offender will be subject to the Criminal Code penalties, including a fine or jail time, and a driving prohibition.
