On Saturday 26 September 2015 at approximately 10:00pm the Owen Sound Police were requested to attend the 2000 block of 3rd Avenue East. The caller reported that cars were attempting to travel north bound on the closed road.
Police arrived to find a long string of vehicles travelling south bound out of the construction zone after realizing the road was not passable. The large number of vehicles appeared to have been leaving a hockey game that had just finished.
Police want to remind the public that section of 3rd Avenue East is closed to everyone except local traffic. Local traffic means those persons who reside in the closed section and or persons attending to a residence in that area. There is also information that persons are travelling with their vehicles on the walking/cycling path to avoid the closure. Please be aware that anyone found on the walkway or travelling on the closed road will be subject to a charge.
