(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – The Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police, with assistance from the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit, is currently investigating a robbery which occurred on June 23, 2015, shortly after 4:00 p.m.
The robbery occurred at a commercial retail business on Iroquois Road, called Uncle Bob’s Smoke Shop.
The police investigation has revealed that a male suspect attended the business, and entered the shop. The suspect was wearing black clothing, and carrying a weapon. He demanded cash, and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
With assistance from the OPP West Region (WR) Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), the OPP WR Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the WR Canine Unit, a 23 year old male suspect, from Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, was apprehended without incident a short time later, from a residence on Ballpark Road.
The male was arrested, and is being held in custody. Charges are pending.
This incident is still under investigation by the Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit.
