(Marmora, ON) – On March 31, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P conducted a R.I.D.E Program on Stirling-Marmora Road, just south of the Village of Marmora where three hundred (300) vehicles were checked.
At 12:55 p.m. officers stopped a 23 year old male driver of Stirling, ON with Driving While Under Suspension, Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway No Insurance and Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle. He will appear in Belleville Provincial Offences Court on March 31, 2015.
At 1:10 p.m. a vehicle attempted to avoid the R.I.D.E Program by not stopping. The driver then provided false information to the officer about his identity. As a result of the investigation, 28 year old Yves BELANGER of Gatineau, QC was arrested and charged with Obstruct Police Officer. In addition he was charged with Driving While Under Suspension and Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in Ontario Court of Justice Belleville on April 23, 2015.
