(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 208 calls for service during the previous week.
Domestic Disputes
Renfrew OPP officers responded to seven domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of domestic mischief, one male was charged with breach probation and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance, and one male was charged with criminal harassment, indecent communication and three counts of uttering a threat.
Mischief
Several cases of Canada Post Community mailboxes being tipped over were investigated over the past weekend. On Saturday May 14 at 10:43 pm officers were notified of a mischief in progress at Airth Blvd near Wade Ave in Renfrew. A number of green Canada Post mailboxes, as well as several basketball nets nearby were tipped over. Similar mischief was noted on Hall Ave and several streets nearby and one incident on Melville Road in Arnprior. Officers replaced the mailboxes and nets. One large mailbox on Barnett Blvd and 8th Street was knocked over and four officers were unable to lift it. Construction cones on Veteran’s Memorial Blvd and an outhouse was knocked over on Otteridge Drive. An older model silver Honda Civic has been noticed in the area in a suspicious manner. A truck was scratched and dented overnight on May 4. The vehicle was parked near the Renfrew Victoria Hospital at the time. The damage was done to the tailgate.
Locks and chains were cut and removed from several picnic tables downtown Renfrew last week. There are no suspects. The damage was reported on Thursday May 12.
A picnic table was damage with graffiti in Calabogie. The damage was noticed and removed on May 12th on a table at the beach in Calabogie.
Stolen ATV
A Bombardier Outlander ATV was stolen from a shed at a residence on Chenaux Road. The theft happened between April 28 and May 3. The yellow 2008 Bombardier Outlander all-terrain vehicle has a gun rack on the front, a high windshield, and two rear view side mirrors and a winch. Provincial Constable Kyle Mask is investigating.
Fraud Attempts
Residents in Arnprior and Renfrew continue to report fraudsters calling them, pretending to represent The Canada Revenue Agency. They are claiming the person owes back taxes and they are going to be arrested or their homes will have a lien placed on them. They are aggressive and rude.
