PUPPY SCAM COSTS VICTIM ALMOST $1,000

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a scam, this time involving a bulldog puppy. On April 8, 2014 a victim attempted to purchase a new bulldog puppy from the United States for a fee of almost $1,100 to cover the cost of the dog and the cost of shipping. The “seller” insisted that the funds be received before the puppy would be shipped. The victim sent the funds through a wire transfer service. A short time later, the seller insisted the victim send an additional $1,200 for extra pet insurance. The puppy was never sent.

Further investigation through the internet revealed the purchase was a scam and the victim was scammed of almost $1,100. Police note that the only way to contact the seller” was by email. “
