POLICE URGING MOTORISTS TO USE CAUTION

(TOWN OF SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Bruce Peninsula. Environment Canada reports that “along the front, bands of intense flurries may develop giving a brief period of near zero visibilities in snow and blowing snow along with a quick few centimeters of accumulation”.

Police have patrolled much of Highway 6, in particular north of Wiarton, and have found visibility to be low. If you must drive today, please take extra caution.

Police will be monitoring the highways and any road closures will be immediately disseminated to the public.

Currently there are no road closures to report on the Bruce Peninsula.

Two vehicles have been reported to be abandoned. One stuck in a drift in Oliphant and the other in a ditch in Barrow Bay.

One motor vehicle collision has been reported in Ferndale and involved two vehicles. This collision resulted from one vehicle slowing down due to reduced visibility and the second vehicle hitting it from behind. If you are following a vehicle, follow it a safe distance that would allow you to stop safely in case of sudden braking.
