Napanee OPP Investigate 17 Collisions Today

(Napanee, ON.) – The Napanee detachment has investigated 17 collisions during today’s snow event. Two of those collisions resulted in injuries to involved parties.

At about 9:00 AM this morning, a vehicle lost control on Highway 401 near Palace Road in Napanee. The female driver of that vehicle had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Napanee Fire Department and was transported to the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital with minor injuries.

A short time later, at roughly 10:40 AM, a westbound Pontiac Grand Am with 3 occupants travelling on Highway #2 in Loyalist Township lost control and crossed into the path of an eastbound dump truck. The two vehicles collided.

A 31 year-old male passenger in the car was ejected from the vehicle and the 55 year-old female driver of the car had to be extricated by the Loyalist Fire Dept. The dump truck driver and the 3rd passenger from the car were uninjured in the crash.

The ejected male passenger was transported to the Kingston General Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car, once extricated, was transported the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital in Napanee.

The investigation into the crash continues and the OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators have been engaged.

Drivers are reminded that they must adapt their driving habits to changing weather conditions. Posted speed limits are designed and established based on ideal road conditions. Drivers must change how they operate a vehicle based on the weather prior to leaving for their destination and while driving in it.
