(ESSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Wednesday, November 13th, 2013, at 1:33pm,
the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a business on Mill Street in Essa Township regarding a Robbery.
A lone, male suspect entered the business and sprayed a noxious substance; he then stole a quantity of currency and prescription medications from the premise. The male then left the premise on foot. Police responded to the scene, and activated the Canine Team as well as the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and started a search of the area.
Essa Fire Department attended to assist with an air quality test and Simcoe County Paramedic’s treated 5 employees with one employee being transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.
The area schools were placed in a Hold and Secure for their safety from approximately 1:30 to 3:20pm, with constant communication between Police and the Simcoe County School Board.
Police are still looking for the male suspect who is described as between 20-30 years of age.
