Police charge Kitchener male in homicide death of Erin Howlett

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Homicide detectives have arrested a 22 year old Kitchener male in connection to the death of Erin Howlett, 28 years, of Elmira.
The suspect was arrested today in Kitchener and is being held in custody for an appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kitchener on November 21, 2013. He is facing a charge of Murder-First Degree and further charges are pending.

The name of the accused will be released tomorrow after the charges have been formally laid in court.
No further arrests are anticipated.

Today’s development represents an important milestone in the ongoing investigation into the death of Erin Howlett, whose body was discovered in the Grand River near Riverbend Drive in Kitchener on July 5, 2013.
Detectives appreciate the on-going support and assistance of members of the public who provided tips and information; and to media outlets and social media contributors for helping to keep the community informed.

Investigators will now focus their efforts toward working with Crown prosecutors and the forthcoming judicial process, while still welcoming any additional information from the public.
