(KINGSTON, ON) – On January 17, 2014, the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad responded to an assault on a Correctional Services Canada (CSC) employee by an inmate at the maximum security Millhaven Institution.
The investigation has determined that on January 17, at approximately 1:00pm, inmate Jermaine OATES assaulted the male CSC employee while on a range. The victim was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries .
OATES is charged with assault cause bodily harm and assault peace officer. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Napanee, on March 4, 2014.
The Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad is led by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and consists of members from the OPP, Kingston Police and RCMP.
