POLICE CALLED TO SNOWMOBILE COLLISION

(THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a snowmobiler as a result of an investigation into a snowmobile collision in The Blue Mountains.

On the 28th of January 2014 at approximately 4:30pm police, paramedics and firefighters were called to attend to a collision involving two snowmobiles near the OFSC trail in the area of the 3rd Sideroad and Grey Road 2. Investigation found that a group of snowmobilers were travelling together when one snowmobile went off the groomed trail and came to a stop. The snowmobile following behind also went off the trail in the same area however collided with the immobilized snowmobile.

The operator of the first snowmobile suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was transported via ambulance to an area hospital. The investigation resulted in the operator of the second snowmobile to be charged with careless driving under the provincial Motorized Snow Vehicles Act.
