PETERBOROUGH MAN ARRESTED

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in the arrest of a Peterborough man.

On August 22, 2014 an OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 35 near Colborne Street and subsequently stopped the vehicle. The officer approached the driver and determined that he had been consuming alcohol.

As a result of the investigation Shannon DESJARDINS, 35 years of age, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mL of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was also charged with the offence of racing, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on September 25, 2014.
