Personal Injury Collision Closes Hwy #6

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment remain on scene of a serious personal injury collision at a Hwy #6 and Third Line Road, Haldimand County, ON address.

Today, Monday July 21st, 2014 at approximately 6:55 am Police along with Haldimand County Paramedics and Haldimand County Fire Department attended a two vehicle collision involving a white Volkswagen car and a fully loaded fuel tanker transport at the Hwy #6 address.

Investigation has thus far revealed that the white Volkswagen car was travelling westbound on Third Line Road when it entered the intersection of Hwy #6 and struck the northbound fuel tanker. As a result of the impact the Volkswagen driver was ejected and sustained serious injuries. He received emergency medical treatment at scene before being transported to local hospital where he is currently listed in stable but serious condition.

The Volkswagen driver is identified as 20 year old Michael RICHARDS of Haldimand County, ON.

The driver of the transport was not physically injured during the collision.

The transport sustained extensive damage and must be unloaded prior to being removed from the scene which has prompted the continuation of the Hwy #6 road closure. Hwy #6 will remain closed until later this afternoon to accomplish this process.

Hwy #6 is closed from Fourth Line Road to Second Line Road.

Third Line Road at Hwy #6 is controlled by stop signs for east and west bound traffic.

The investigation is continuing.
