At approximately 8:00 pm a pedestrian crossing on a green light at 14th Street and 4th Avenue West was struck by a car. The 61 year old Owen Sound man was crossing westbound on the north side of the street. A vehicle being driven by a 52 year old Owen Sound women travelling in the same direction, proceeded to make a right turn onto 4th Avenue West. The driver did not see the man and her vehicle struck him causing him to strike his head. The man was transported to hospital where he was found to have sustained a fracture to his upper neck. He was air lifted to London hospital for more specialized care. The man’s injury was deemed serious but not life threatening. The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
