Passenger Ejected In Rollover Airlifted To Hospital

(LAKESHORE, ON) – On August 6, 2016 at approximately 5:45 p.m. members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Lakeshore detachment responded to a report of a Ford pickup truck that left the roadway while travelling eastbound on Essex County Road 46 near the Richardson Sideroad, Lakeshore.

The vehicle rolled over and the passenger was ejected. The vehicle came to rest on the northeast corner of the intersection of Essex County Road 46 and the Richardson Sideroad.

The passenger in the vehicle was initially transported to Public General Hospital in Chatham, Ontario and later airlifted to Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was also transported to Chatham’s Public General Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Lakeshore Fire Department and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also responded to the scene.

The OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigator (TTCI) is currently at the scene completing the investigation.

Essex County Road 46 between Gracey Sideroad and Homestead Drive will be closed for several hours.
