Passed Out Behind Wheel Results In Impaired Charges & Vehicle Impoundment

(TECUMSEH, ON) – On December 30, 2018 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a call for service on Concession 11 in the Municipality of Tecumseh.

A passing motorist contacted police reporting that a vehicle was running and stopped in the middle of the roadway and the driver appeared to be unconscious behind the wheel.

OPP and EMS arrived and woke the driver who exhibited signs of impairment.

Ronald LAFFERTY, age 56 of Tecumseh, Ontario was arrested and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Windsor on January 16, 2019 to answer to the charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Drive Motor Vehicle in Excess of 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood.

His vehicle was impounded and his driver’s license suspended pursuant to the regulations of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
