Pamela Tracy SMITH – Drunk Driving

(Picton, ON) At 8:30am on the 12th of January, an officer with Prince Edward OPP was on routine patrol on Hwy 62 in a marked police cruiser equipped with an Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) device that identifies un licenced drivers. A vehicle passed the officer and the ALPR device alerted.

During the subsequent stop the officer noted the smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath. A Roadside Screening Device was administered to the driver which she failed. The driver was arrested and brought to the OPP detachment where she provided further breath samples confirming her blood alcohol content was in excess of the legal limit of 80mgs.

Pamela Tracy SMITH age 55yrs of Sophiasburgh was charged criminally with Impaired Operation and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Alcohol. SMITH was also charged with Driving without a license under the Highway Traffic Act.

SMITH’s vehicle was impounded and her licence suspended for 90 days.

SMITH will appear in Picton court on the 1st of February to answer to her charges.
