(MOOSONEE, ON) – Shortly after 3:20 am on November 16, 2014 a member of the Moosonee OPP was conducting general patrol on Quarry Road when he observed an oncoming vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer turned around to investigate however the vehicle had accelerated and the officer lost contact.
The officer continued his patrol for a number of kilometers when he located the suspect vehicle where it had recently come to rest in the northbound ditch. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. She was transported to the Moosonee OPP Detachment for the purposes of breath tests.
Paige SPENCER-LINKLATER (21) of Moosonee has been charged with the following offences:
Driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was issued an automotic driver’s licence suspension for a period of 90 days and has been released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on January 6, 2015 to answer to these charges.
