OPP WARN RESIDENTS ABOUT DOOR TO DOOR TREE REMOVAL

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment are warning the public to be vigilant after police received calls about individuals arriving at their door inquiring about tree removal.

On Thursday, February 13, 2014, the OPP received various calls from concerned citizens from Norfolk County, regarding individuals arriving at their door informing them that trees on their property needed to be removed in order to prevent them from falling onto their neighbour’s property.

Through the course of investigation it was determined that one resident was being charged $1,200 dollars for the removal of a tree located at the rear of their property. The resident was offered a ride to their financial institution when they could not provide any funds up front when requested.

Police want to take this opportunity to remind all citizens of Norfolk County to be extremely vigilant if anyone arrives at your door offering you a service.
