(LONDON, ON) – Two adults have been arrested and charged after a discovery of drugs and weapons during a routine traffic stop in the City of London.
On December 31, 2013 at approximately 3:30 p.m. a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region Highway Enforcement Team (HET) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Meg Drive in the City of London. During an interaction with the driver, police discovered a small quantity of crack cocaine. Further investigation revealed two batons within the vehicle.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested and brought to the London OPP detachment. The passenger, Shonalee TUCKER, age 27 of London, ON was charged with one count of possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine under 30 grams. She was later released under a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in a London court February 7, 2014 to speak to the charge.
Driver Brandon SIMMERS, age 28 of London, ON was charged with the following:
1 count – possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine under 30 grams
2 counts – fail to comply with recognizance
2 counts – possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The accused has been remanded into custody and is expected to attend a bail hearing today.
