(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On Friday November 22, 2013 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members will be participating in a fundraising initiative in support of the United Way.
In support of the 2013 United Way Campaign, and the OPP’s fundraising goal of $45,000 a United Way “Denim Day†was suggested as a fundraising initiative.
OPP Commissioner Chris LEWIS has approved the wearing of denim on Friday November 22, 2013 for uniform and civilian members who will not be attending meetings or representing the OPP outside the office.
For those participating, $5 will be collected by the detachment’s United Way Canvas Coordinator. OPP members also contribute to the United Way through voluntary pay-roll deductions, one time donations and special events.
Northumberland OPP Detachment members raise money through a series of luncheons at each site contributing to the OPP’s United Way Campaign which is filtered back to the local community here in Northumberland.
