OPP INVESTIGATE 2 VEHICLE COLLISION IN MELANCTHON

(MELANCTHON, ON) – On Wednesday November 20, 2013 at 1155 hrs. Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a two vehicle collision involving a southbound Tractor/Tanker Trailer carrying apple juice and a Nissan Frontier pickup truck. The collision occurred at the intersection of Dufferin County 124 and Dufferin County 21 Roads in Melancthon Township.

Preliminary investigation reveals that southbound tractor tanker Trailer carrying 80,000 pounds of apple juice had to slam on brakes and swerve into east ditch to avoid colliding with the Nissan truck that failed to yield from a private drive. The tractor/tanker rolled over on its side after colliding with the driver’s side door area of the pickup truck

This collision caused Hydro Lines to come down on the roadway and Hydro One attended quickly and repaired the lines.

Both vehicle drivers were taken to an area Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Highway was closed for less than an hour while scene was being cleaned up.

The driver of vehicle was charged with Fail to Yield from a private drive contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
