OPP STOPPING IMPAIRED DRIVERS

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On March 13, 2014 the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) encountered two separate traffic stops that resulted in drinking and driving charges.

As a result of an investigation from a traffic stop at 5:19 p.m., police arrested John WHITE, 61 years of age from Parry Sound. He has been charged with Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Parry Sound on April 3, 2014 to answer to his charge.

At 11:19 p.m. Mayooran POORANACHANDRAN, 42 years of age from Orangeville, was stopped for speeding on Highway 400 in Seguin Township. Upon further investigation at the side of the road, the driver was arrested and accompanied to the West Parry Sound OPP detachment to conduct breath tests to determine the level of alcohol in his blood. The accused was charged with Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and with Speeding, 1 – 49 km/h over the posted speed limit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Parry Sound on April 17, 2014 to answer to his charges.
