OPP REQUEST ASSISTANCE LOCATING A SUSPICIOUS MALE/VEHICLE

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a suspicious male/vehicle in the area. It is reported that two children were walking to school on Thursday, October 4, 2013 on Helmer Pederson Drive when a vehicle pulled up to them. The male driver asked for directions to the arena for a hockey tournament and then further requested the children to get into the vehicle.

The vehicle is described as an older model red GMC extended cab with rakes and shovels secured upright in the bed of the truck. The truck was muddy and may contain rusted areas.

The male driver is described as scruffy, dirty clothes and possibly in his 40’s.

The OPP are continuing their investigation to locate the driver and clarify his intentions.

If you observe this vehicle make attempts to obtain the licence plate number and any further description possible if safe to do so.

Assure to discuss with your children the concern for their safety and not to talk with strangers. The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their surroundings, and that of children, at all times.
