(ORILLIA,ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Central Region is again reminding the public to please stay off all apparent frozen surfaces. With the milder weather, ice on lakes, rivers and streams is beginning to break up and is very unsafe. Under no circumstances should anyone venture out onto the ice.
Boaters who may already be out in open water are also reminded to wear the proper equipment which should include a personal floatation device an/or a floatatuion suit. Please remember that hypothermia can set in in minutes due to the extreme cold temperatures of the water.
