(Prince Edward County, ON)â€â€On April 16, 2014 at 4:37pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment attended West Lake, Wellington. A body was located on West Lake by a local resident while operating his air boat.
OPP confirm the identity of the body as that of 54-year old Gordon “Sandy†Rutherford of Wellington. Rutherford went missing on October 19, 2013 while fishing on West Lake. The area was searched extensively by air, water and shoreline in the weeks following Rutherford’s disappearance.
A post-mortem examination was conducted earlier today. The cause of death is not suspicious.
The Rutherford family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all emergency personnel and volunteers who assisted in the search.
