OPP MAKE ARREST IN THREATENING CASE

(Prince Edward County, ON)—On February 06, 2014 at 9:38am a threatening incident had been reported to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment. The incident had occurred over night. The victim had been threatened with a gun.

Police attended a Hallowell Ward residence. With the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP K-9, police arrested 19-year old, Sheldon BATEMAN of Prince Edward County, ON.

The accused is charged with the following offences:

Uttering Death Threats, contrary to Section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (x2).

Weapon: Unauthorized Possession, contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Imitation Firearm: Use While Committing Offence, contrary to Section 85(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Possession of a Controlled Substance, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused is in police custody awaiting a bail hearing today at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Belleville, ON.
