(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) In the early morning hours of January 19, 2014, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers issued two three day suspensions on two separate traffic stops.
Just after 2:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent OPP officers stopped a Dodge pickup on Highway 401 westbound near Queens Line. While officers were speaking with the 40 year old male driver from Munsee-Delaware First Nations, ON, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside test was completed which resulted in a warn range suspension.
In a second incident just after 3:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent OPP officers stopped an Oldsmobile vehicle on Richmond Street in Chatham, after observing the vehicle driving erratically. While officers were speaking with the 28 year old male from Chatham, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside test was completed which resulted in a warn range suspension.
Both drivers were served with a three day driver’s licence suspension.
Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road arrive safely.
