(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On August 31 ‎2014, at approximately 1:45am officers of the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious assault at a residence on Loyalist Parkway, Carrying Place, ON .
The investigation revealed that a 49-year-old female had been assaulted by a 43-year-old male at the residence. The suspect had fled on foot. The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance in serious condition. Officers launched a search with the assistance of OPP Canine and Emergency Response Team (ERT) members with negative results.
At approximately 2:00pm on August 31 2014, officers located and arrested 43-year-old Shawn BIRT of Trenton. He was remanded into custody on a charge of Attempt Murder and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville, today, September 2, 2014.
