OPP INVESTIGATING CREDIT CARD FRAUD

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On April 18, 2014 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a speeding vehicle on Highway 400 at Highway 141 in Seguin Township. Upon further investigation at the side of the road, it was determined that the driver could not produce a valid driver’s licence as to a current licence suspension. The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle was conducted. The search discovered several fraudulent credit cards. As a result of the search, the passenger was also arrested.

Fritz RABEL, 28 years of age from Ottawa, was charged with the following:

– Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

– Speeding, contrary to the HTA

– Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate, contrary to the HTA

– Driver fail to surrender licence, contrary to the HTA

– Fail to sign ownership in ink, contrary to the HTA

– Possess – credit card data * 5 counts, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Carmelo BRUNA, 24 year of age from Laval Quebec, was charged with the following:

– Fail to comply with Probation Order, contrary to the CCC

– Possess – credit card data * 5 counts, contrary to the CCC

Both individuals remain in custody. The investigation is on-going.
