(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On April 22, 2014 the Ontario Provincial Police received a 9-1-1 call from the Principal at Bobcaygeon Public School advising that a male party had been observed in the vicinity, carrying what appeared to be a firearm.
As a result of the information Bobcaygeon Public School initiated a lock down to ensure the safety of the students and staff.
The OPP attended the scene and was able to ascertain that the firearm was an air rifle. No charges are pending in this incident. The lock down lasted approximately one hour.
The OPP would like to remind those who own firearms to be mindful of the surroundings in which the firearms are visible to the public.
