OPP INVESTIGATE TRACTOR TRAILER COLLISION

COBOURG, ON) – Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is presently on scene of a jack-knifed tractor trailer in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Burnham Street in Cobourg.

OPP and Fire attended to eastbound Highway 401, west of Burnham Street at approximately 11:00 am on Tuesday February 18, 2014 to investigate a jack-knifed tractor trailer where a fuel spill has occurred from the tanker truck. The eastbound passing lane is presently closed to traffic, however the 40 remains open.

Quantum- Murray Environmental Services is attending from Etobicoke for hazardous material clean -up. The Ministries of Transportation and the Environment crews are expected to be on scene soon to assist in the investigation.

No injuries have been reported.

OPP are asking motorists in the area to exercise caution and slow down or take an alternate route. Motorists that must travel 401 eastbound at this time should especially be aware of emergency vehicles on scene.
