OPP INVESTIGATE SUSPICIOUS DEATHS

(ORO-MEDONTE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Friday, July 4, 2014 at 5:41am officers with the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Holick Road north of the 4th Line of Oro-Medonte Township.

The fire was extinguished by responding firefighters. Upon inspection, responding officers observed three separate possible human remains inside the vehicle. The vehicle and contents have since been removed to the Centre of Forensic Science in Toronto for further forensic investigation and post mortem examination.

Holick Road remains closed while the investigation of the scene continues.

This investigation continues under the direction of Detective Inspector Jim Smyth of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with the assistance of other members of the Barrie OPP Major Crime Unit.

The OPP is asking anyone who observed any type of unusual activity in the area of Holick Road on July 3 or 4, 2014 to contact the Barrie OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
