OPP INVESTIGATE SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION IN FORT FRANCES

(FORT FRANCES, ON) On September 20, 2013 at 4:48 am, officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services and Fort Frances Fire and Rescue responded to a single motor vehicle collision on the 1200 block of Second Street East in Fort Frances, ON.

Officers can confirm that an 18 year old female driver received serious but non-life threatening injuries when the 2008 Chevrolet Colbalt she was driving collided with two hydro poles. An 18 year old female passenger also received serious non-life threatening injuries and a 35 year old male passenger received minor injuries. All three occupants were able to exit the vehicle and were transported to the local hospital before the vehicle became engulfed in flames. All vehicle occupants are residents of the Rainy River District.

The roadway remains closed until Fort Frances Power Corporation completes the necessary repairs to the hydro poles. The OPP is continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash with the support of the OPP North West Region Traffic and Marine Unit.
