(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – Members of the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 11, Playfair Township, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on December 14, 2014.
The head on collision involved a northbound passenger vehicle and a southbound tractor trailer. Matheson Fire Department also attended the scene.
The driver of the Ford Tax, Daniel Rheal Tole, 17, of Val Gagne, was transported by Timmins Ambulance to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer, Avtar Singh Thandi, 36, of Mississauga, and his passenger Avninder Singh Buttar, 27, of Brampton, were both treated for minor injuries and released.
Highway 11 was closed in both directions for approximately 12 hours and was reopened at 6 a.m. this morning.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with this ongoing investigation.
