(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – On Sunday December 14, 2014 at 1:35 am members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting R.I.D.E. checks on Meredith Street in Little Current, Ontario. At 1:40 am officers observed a grey Toyota Tacoma stop about 200 meters from the check point and two individuals bailed from the vehicle and ran off. The vehicle unoccupied continued to travel and ran into a retaining wall on the side of the road. A search of the area for the suspects was conducted by OPP and United Chiefs and Council of Manitoulin (UCCM) officers with negative results.
Upon check of the vehicle it was registered to a female in Billings Township. She was contacted at home and advised she checked and confirmed that her vehicle was not at her residence and must have been stolen.
