OPP CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT A SUCCESS

On September 21, 2013 Central Hastings O.P.P. hosted their 3rd annual Charity Golf Tournament at Poplars Golf Club in Tweed, ON. Despite the rainy weather over 110 golfers participated and several others attended for the dinner to show their support for two worthwhile causes.

Just over $7100 was raised for the Pediatric Cancer Fund of Kingston General Hospital and the “Team Emily” Campaign. The Pediatric Cancer Fund assists families with various financial costs such as medications that are not covered by OHIP, travel expenses and hospital parking fees. The Team Emily Campaign specifically assists 11 year old Emily Youmans of Marmora, ON who is diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor and undergoes weekly medical treatments.

Organizers wish to extend sincere appreciation to the numerous volunteers from Loyalist College – Police Foundations Program who helped make the tournament run smoothly and to the businesses and organizations throughout Madoc, Marmora, Tweed, Stirling, Trenton, Belleville, and Kingston who generously sponsored or donated to the event. Special thanks to Central Hastings Community Policing Advisory Committee for their contribution.
