OPP CHARGE TRANSPORT DRIVERS WITH CARELESS DRIVING

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) On Friday December 10, 2013 at approximately 8:30p.m, the Ontario Provincial Police, Highway Safety Division was patrolling Highway 11, Armour Township. The weather was very poor at the time and a large amount of snow was falling, visibility was terrible and traffic was proceeding very slowly.
Two tractor trailers were southbound on Highway 11 travelling at a speed too fast for road conditions, causing white-out conditions when they passed other vehicles on the Highway. The officer charged both drivers with Careless Driving, Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. Shortly after this, the Ontario Provincial Police closed the Highway from Powassan to Huntsville due to the large amounts of snow falling and the Ministry of Transportation snow plows could no longer keep up with the amount of snow that was falling.
