(DORSET, ON) On Friday September 20, 2013 at about 2:30pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Muskoka EMS and Dorset Fire department were advised of an explosion in a building on Bellwood Acres Rd in the town of Dorset.
The workers were in the process of disposing old biological samples when the explosion occurred at the Ministry of Environment building. A 31 year old female from Bracebridge was transported to a local hospital then to a Toronto hospital as a result of her injuries.
The Ministry of Labour along with the Ontario Fire Marshalls (OFM) offices attended the location to continue the investigation. The OPP USRT has been asked to assist in the removal and disposal of the chemicals. The OFM continues to secure the property until removal and investigation is complete.
