(BRIGHTON, ON) On Thursday January 9, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a report of theft of motor vehicle and copper wire from a local Brighton business. Police have completed this investigation and have arrested three males for numerous criminal offences.
Sometime overnight on January 9, unknown persons had entered into Brighton Recycling on County Road 64 in the Municipality of Brighton and gained entry to a sea container that was storing 1,800 pounds of bare copper wire with an estimated value of $6,200. The wire was loaded into a scrapped, but still operational, 1999 brown Chevrolet Ventura van that was on site. The van was located by police abandoned nearby but not associated to the break and enter at the time. The wire was then sold to another company in Peterborough for less than the estimated value.
As a result of a thorough OPP investigation by uniform and Street Response Team (SRT) members from Northumberland detachment, three males have been arrested on January 24, 2014.
James LOCKE, 26 and Jason Kyle ROBERTSON, 37 both from Quinte West, Ontario and Noel Alexander TERRELL, 41 from Kingston, Ontario have been charged with one count each of break and enter – premises, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft of motor vehicle and possession of stolen motor vehicle under $5,000. Both accused were released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday March 4, 2014 in Brighton, Ontario.
Noel TERRELL has also been charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose and two counts of fail to comply with probation order. He was held for a bail hearing and is also scheduled to appear in Brighton in the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday March 4, 2014.
