(BRIGHTON, ON) – Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 north of Brighton on Wednesday March 12, 2014 when an eastbound motorist was found exceeding the speed limit and prohibited from driving.
At about 1:32 am, OPP were operating radar on Highway 401 for the eastbound traffic east of Smithfield Road in the Municipality of Brighton when a motorist was found to be driving at 136 km/hour in the posted 100 km/hour zone. The grey 2006 BMW was stopped and the lone male driver admitted to the officer that he was driving with a suspended licence and he was prohibited from driving as a result of a previous court conviction.
Christopher McDonald SEALY, age 25 from Kingston Ontario was arrested and charged with one count of driving while disqualified and two counts of fail to comply with recognizance under the Criminal Code. He has also been charged with driving under suspension, speeding and a Clas G2 licence holder -BAC above zero (BAC – blood alcohol content) under the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused was held in custody to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg for a bail hearing today at 1:30 pm
