On March 11, 2014 at 11:20 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Edinburgh Road South residence to investigate an assault. It is alleged that an intoxicated male was driven home from downtown in a cab. The male failed to pay his fare and when the cab driver continued to ask for her money, the male punched her. He then continued into his residence and police were called. Police arrested the male at his residence. As he was taken to a police cruiser, he saw the cab driver and spit at her. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a small quantity of marihuana.
A 24-year-old Guelph male has been charged with two counts of assault, five counts of breach probation, transportation fraud and possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He has been held in custody and will appear in bail court on March 12, 2014.
