OFFICER AVOIDS COLLISION

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On April 5, 2014 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on Ski Hill Road when an approaching vehicle crossed the centre line and forced the officer to move onto the shoulder of the roadway. The officer, having avoided a collision, subsequently stopped the vehicle.

The officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. As a result of the investigation Jeffrey BUMA, 50 years of age, of Blackstock, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on May 22, 2014.
