(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive R.I.D.E. campaign continued this weekend and resulted in several arrests for alcohol related Criminal Code Offences.
On December 24 2014 at approximately 4:33 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks at Jones Baseline and Eastview Road in Guelph-Eramosa Township. Officers investigated the male driver of a 2008 Chevrolet. While speaking with the driver, police believed that he had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a fail.
Thomas YORKE-VICARY age 26 of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 MGS contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 16, 2015 to answer to the charge.
On December 25, 2014 at approximately 7:04 p.m. a 2015 Toyota entered a R.I.D.E. program on Townline Road and Roszell Road in Puslinch Township. Officers suspected the female driver was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a fail.
Navjeet GILL age 32 of Cambridge was charged with Over 80 MGS contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court Jan. 20, 2015 to answer to the charge.
On December 26, 2014 at approximately 5:20 p.m. officers were conducting a R.I.D.E program at Wellington Road 25 and Wellington Road 50 in the Town of Erin. A 2005 Mazda entered the program and officers suspected the male party to be under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a fail.
Dennis DOUCETTE age 45 of Orangeville was charged with Over 80 MGS contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court January 20, 2015 to answer to the charge.
On December 27, 2014 at approx. 8:59 p.m. officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Brock Road near Cockburn Street in Puslinch Township. A 2008 Nissan entered the R.I.D.E check point and upon speaking to the female driver officers suspected she had been drinking alcohol.
Agnieszka SZACUN age 32 of Oakville was charged with Over 80 MGS contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 23, 2015 to answer to the charge.
On December 28, 2014 at approximately 12:55 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks at Highway 7 near Wellington Road 32 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. Officers investigated the male driver of a 2005 Nissan. While speaking with the driver, police believed that he had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a fail.
Michael NICHOL age 35 of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 MGS contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on February 6, 2015 to answer to the charge.
In each incident the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for a period of seven days and their drivers’ licences suspended for 90 days as per statute.
