(Town of New Tecumseth, ON)- On Thursday the 25th of December 2014, at 11:08 p.m. a concerned citizen dialled ‘911†to report an erratic driver, possibly impaired travelling southbound on the 10th Sideroad near the 5th Line in the Town of New Tecumseth.
An officer from the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police located the grey Ford Ranger pick-up truck and after investigating the driver, found the 82-year old man from Schomberg to be impaired by alcohol. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and over 80mgs of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
The accused, Carmel MICALLEF is scheduled to appear in court on the 20th of January 2015 in answer to his charges.
Officers from the Nottawasaga OPP urge drivers to dial 9-1-1 if you feel you are following or witness an impaired driver on our roadways. Impaired drivers are a danger to everyone on the roads, and spotting one definitely warrants an emergency 9-1-1 call to police.
